The Walking Dead: Being Alive In Christ and Walking Amongst the Spiritually Dead

As a I sit here reading the book, "Don't Waste Your Life" By: John Piper, God gave me a newfound revelation that I believe will speak to someone today. This revelation deals with the show, The Walking Dead. If you are not familiar with this show, it centers around a crew of humans are fighting to survive amongst a world immersed with zombies a.k.a. "walkers.”

In the book, "Don't Waste Your Life," John Piper references the scripture Galatians 2:19-20. This scripture states: "For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

After seeing this scripture it dawned on me that we as believer represent the human beings in The Walking Dead who are daily stepping out into a war zone where the walkers (unbelievers) are being controlled by something greater than themselves to attack us. As a believer, have you ever been around a plethora of unbelievers who drain you spiritually? Or are you are the person who is constantly being talked about or ridiculed by others? Or maybe you are someone who is a believer walking around as if you are a spiritual zombie and need to wake up and be reminded of your identity in Christ?
If you identify with those questions, you must stay encouraged because everyday that we walk outside of our homes, we are walking into a spiritual war zone. We are literally walking amongst those who are spiritually dead and we must not take offense to those actions and words that are spewed by them that begins at root of hatred/evil to get us off course. We must abide and dwell in God because that's where our safety and protection lies. Furthermore, abiding in Christ gives us a satisfaction that this world cannot give us.

Ephesians 6:12 states: " For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

In this show, the walkers come from every direction ready to feed on and act upon the weaknesses of the human beings. The Bible urges us to be strong in the Lord and the power of His might (Ephesians 6:10). Be strong in the Lord today and understand the battle that we are fighting. Remember that you are daily walking amongst many dead people. You are alive in Christ. Keep your eyes on Jesus and He will see you through whatever situation you are facing.
